DIRECT PATIENT CARE
Dr. Tamryn offers one on one, 50+ minute, in-person PT sessions in Boulder County, Colorado. This is a great choice for anyone within driving distance or for those who choose to travel to Boulder to do a scoliosis “intensive”. During an intensive, clients are seen twice per day for 2 weeks to learn their program.
If you live outside the local area, access Dr. Tamryn’s services through Clinical Care Navigation.
Adolescent Resolve PROgram
Adolescents with scoliosis are guided throughout the process by Dr. Tamryn. Usually, a parent is present during the session to act as a second set of eyes and ears so that s/he can act as a coach at home as needed. Clients range in age from 9 to 17 years old and their curves or Cobb Angles range from 10 to 50+ degrees. The SOSORT Guidelines are used to help families decide on the degree of treatment necessary including screening, proper observation, physiotherapy scoliosis-specific exercises (PSSEs), and/or bracing. The program for scoliosis uses a combination of the more intensive Schroth exercises along with a healthy dose of SEAS postural correction training to optimize results and significantly reduce the risk of curve progression. When bracing is needed, we assist with information about good bracing, periodically assess the fit, coach the adolescent on how to maximize the benefits, encourage optimal wear times, and help assess when bracing can be discontinued. An MD prescription is not necessary to participate in the ReSolve Program but we often work in conjunction with a pediatric scoliosis orthopedic specialist.
ADULT RESOLVE PROGRAM
Adults with scoliosis face unique challenges. Scoliosis often progress with time, postural habits, repetitive motions, and decreased strength resulting in further trunk deviations and discomfort. Adults are often concerned by what they have seen from their scoliosis and want to prevent curve progression, maintain their function and lifestyle, and keep pain at bay. The Schroth Method and SEAS techniques are combined to give a strong defense against further curve progression. Adults especially appreciate understanding their particular curve pattern; the different twists and turns of their body suddenly make sense! Dr. Tamryn will perform a thorough evaluation including assessment of any and all x-rays, discuss all findings with you, and develop an individualized program for your specific needs. Further, Dr. Tamryn encourages the essential educational, postural, and biomechanical elements that are missing in traditional physical therapy care. The ultimate goal of this information is to aid people to decrease their risk of curve progression, decrease pain, improve appearance, and help avoid surgery.
